A mail carrier started arguing with a traffic officer after parking in front of a building to make a delivery in New York City.
Sunday Visions, who works as a letter and package delivery driver for United Parcel Service (UPS) in the Big Apple, reported the incident in a video posted on his TikTok profile.
After making a delivery, Visions returned to his truck and found a traffic officer finishing writing a parking ticket. That was when he began arguing with the officer.
“Bro, this is New York City. […] So show me where to park. Show me where to park,” Visions tells the officer, who replies: “You’re making deliveries. You have to park somewhere else.”
As the driver raises his voice as much as possible without appearing to disrespect the officer, the conversation goes in circles while Visions tries to explain that there was no legal way for him to do his job.
In the video, it is possible to see that this was, in fact, the only possible place for Visions to park to make his delivery without disrupting the flow of traffic on the road, and that there were no alternative parking spots on that street.
The officer’s only response is that the driver could call the city’s 311 line to seek information about available parking spaces. “I’m asking you,” the driver replies.
In the end, the argument led nowhere, and Visions still left with a parking ticket. “I do my job. That’s it,” the officer says before walking away. In the comments on the video, users expressed the sympathy that Visions had expected from the officer.
“This is so wrong,” one TikTok user said. “Commercial vehicles can remain parked for up to 15 minutes to make deliveries,” another emphasized. “Don’t worry, UPS won’t pay for that,” a third user warned.
